With standard English being the main official “lingua franca” for legal, judiciary & paramilitary communication within transnational institutions (e.g., Europol, Interpol, Eurojust, Cepol, etc.), this specialized practical-language course is aimed and designed for Italian law enforcement personnel, including but not limited to: Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and both local police and Polizia di Stato, as well as for Judges & Lawyers who in their daily chores need to interact with international legal-judiciary, policing, and law enforcement bodies.
Coursework will focus on building language skills and practical knowledge that be relevant to the unique needs and context of Italian-International law enforcement and legal professionals working in the field.
A range of topics will be covered, including legal-and-operational terminology, communication patterns with English-speaking colleagues and peers, report writing, minutes, and public speaking in English. It will also include a strong focus on socio-cultural differences and how to navigate them effectively within professional settings.
Throughout the course, all participants, working in small groups and/or pairs will have the opportunity to practice and improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through an array of interactive, practical and immersion real-life activities. These may include role-playing scenarios, mock interactions, and case studies, as well as traditional language exercises and semantic-grammar drills.
By the end of the course, participants will have gained a strong foundation in common English language and the cultural skills needed to communicate effectively and professionally with their English-speaking counterparts in the field of law enforcement, policing, and the judiciary system.
