- Goal, scope and boundaries: what belongs to the project and what explicitly does not
- From goal to work package: cutting tasks so that someone can actually own them

- Roles and decisions: who decides, who delivers, who gets informed
- Estimating effort and cost, and putting buffers where they belong
- Spotting risks early and keeping them in view over the whole run

- An overview of the tools, from a spreadsheet to project software
